|Nina Garrett (Ph.D. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) has been president both of IALLT and of the Executive Board of CALICO. From 1998 to 2007 she served as Yale University’s first Director of Language Study and Director of the Center for Language Study, which provides leadership, professional community, resources, technology support, and program evaluation for the teachers of over 50 languages at Yale. She retired from Yale in June 2007 but continues to consult, publish, and speak on the relationships among language acquisition theory, language pedagogy, and technology, with particular emphasis on (1) providing a psycholinguistically sound basis for pedagogy and digital materials development and (2) the potential and challenges of language centers in post-secondary institutions.||Currently serving as President of Medaille College, Dr. Jurasek has served in leadership assignments at Earlham College (IN), Augustana College (IN) and Antioch College (OH).
A literature scholar, Jurasek earned both his Ph.D. and master’s degrees in German from The Ohio State University and his bachelor’s degree in German from Ohio University. Dr. Jurasek has co-authored three books on German that are used in colleges and universities across the country. He has published widely and has made numerous presentations about on-campus and off-campus curriculum design.
